Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye.

This verse makes it very clear that we need to forgive!!

Ephesians 4:32 – Be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

A familiar verse, but I’ve heard two sermons on it in the past month, and God has been teaching me a lot through this simple truth. Christ is our example of forgiveness.

Romans 8:38&39: “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ’s Jesus our Lord. ”
I cling to this verse daily. When trials, hardships and sorrows come and I do not understand God’s ways, I feel overwhelmed with the peace that this verse brings and the love that Christ has so graciously offered to me.

Keri, you ought to review this for SI. As I told you, I’ve already read the book, and it is excellent stuff. DeMoss is solidly founded in scripture, as always…and insightful in application, as always! I think (no…I know, as many times as this has come up in counseling) this issue is at the crux of much loss of victory and joy in the lives of believers. Great giveaway!

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.
