Give Me Faith

Most days it’s easy to be thankful for what I have. Other days I let what I want to be happening get the best of me. I found out today that my Uncle has a tumor on his lung. That is heartbreaking news. Sometimes the fact that Daniel still doesn’t have a job as an [...]

For the Record: Good Deeds Bad Deeds

Remember the story where Mordecai saves the King’s life from the hands of two advisers within the court. He tells Esther so she can let the palace know the evil plans. Esther is quick to help rectify this situation and gives a report to have these men stopped. She gives Mordecai all the credit. This [...]

The View from my Windshield

Wednesday is a special day of the week for me,  it is Wake up Wednesday at my World Market. Otherwise known as the “day I feed my coffee addiction.” For those who don’t know what Wake up Wednesday is: you get double punches on your virtual coffee card. So for every 3 bags of coffee [...]

Help me {a plea for stories}

I had so much fun interviewing Robin, just like I did when I interviewed Anne and Michele. I’d love to do more pieces like these, but  I need your help! Do you know someone who has a story that should be shared on the Grace post?  Thanks to things like skype, and instant messenger, I [...]

SuperWoman: Robin Carter

Hero: a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. Well, in this case it’s a woman. Robin Carter is a wife, Sunday School teacher, Church leader, and teacher for Palmetto State E-cademy. She is seemingly average, but things are not always as they seem. If you saw Robin [...]

Snow Days

Yep. Snowed in for the 3rd day in a row.I really dislike the cold weather. In fact as soon as I step out into it my favorite phrase is “whine and fuss!” Sitting in my family room and going stir crazy it’s easy to focus on the whiner in me. So I’m choosing to look [...]

Worldly Marriages: how does a Christian relationship compare?

I am working through the book of Esther so these stories are fresh on my mind and I’m writing much on these topics. This is an excerpt from what I’m working on right now. More than a history lesson God’s Word should be a life lesson. Here is some of the life lesson I’ve been contemplating from Esther 1.

This story of Vashti and Ahasuerus’ sin is not an example of why women should always submit to their husbands. It is not an example of how men should treat their wives. It is an example of a worldly relationship. As far as we know, Vashti–like her husband–does not know God. This interaction between Vashti and Ahasuerus should not be seen as example of why women should submit to their spouse. It is an example of a humanistic union and shows our depraved nature without Christ’s involvement in our families. It is an example of a marriage where each party is serving self, and that is not God’s example. Submission to God and each other is not part of the picture here. Whether we are married or not; the purpose of our relationships should be serving the others, not serving ourselves.

Psalms 15

I’ve been writing a Bible study on Esther for oh, about 2 years! I’m actually rewriting and finishing it now though because some friends are going to use it. This was just the pressure I needed to buckle down and finish the work. Today when I was writing about Mordecai’s refusal to bow to Haman, [...]

Excused Absence {I hope}

I’ve been gone. I know. That makes me a bad blogger. I guess I take some solace in the fact that I blog because I feel like it. I blog for free, so I don’t feel much in the way of pressure to keep content going for advertisers. All that being said, I feel bad [...]
